About this Offer

Departing your choice of airport you can choose either a 3 or 4 night stay in the capital Reykjavik. You’ll stay in a 3* hotel with en-suite facilities convenient to all the attractions this wonderful city has to offer and a local Icelandic Breakfast is included each morning.

See Iceland above and underground as we begin the day with witnessing the inner workings of a volcanic eruption while we walk in the path of lava that flowed thousands of years ago. The lava tunnel is one of the biggest in Iceland and gets up to 30 metres wide and 10 metres high. The lava tube ceiling has caved in near the entrance, which creates beautiful columns of light. The fantastic range of colours of the tunnel wall is caused by the different mineral types of the rock.

This is a tour for the senses. Experience a new world, hear the talk of the cave and sense the forces of nature like you have never done before. Learn new things and step out of your comfort zone. Scenes from the Hollywood movie Noah, with Anthony Hopkins, were shot in this lava cave.

The next part takes you to three of Iceland’s most stunning sights; Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir geothermal area and Þingvellir National Park.

The Geysir geothermal area boasts spouting springs, including Strokkur, the most active geyser in Iceland. All geysers in the world get their name from the now mostly dormant Geysir hot spring, from which the area also gets its name. At Gullfoss you are given the opportunity to stand next to the amazing waterfall, watching enormous quantities of water tumble violently into a deep, meandering gorge.

The following day we will take you on a glacier hike which is a great way to experience Icelandic nature. On this tour, you will walk on Sólheimajökull glacier tongue, which extends from Mýrdalsjökull. We will take an easy 2-2.5 hour walk on crampons up on the ice field, where we will learn more about the wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges, deep crevasses and why the glaciers are melting and disappearing.

We will provide and teach you how to use basic glacier equipment for this tour. On the way back to Reykjavík, after the exhilarating glacier hike, we will stop at the two beautiful waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Seljalandsfoss is part of the Seljandsá river, which has its origins in Eyjafjallajökull glacier. What makes this waterfall so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to walk behind it. Skógafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall, is the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls walk over to Þórsmörk. The waterfall was also used in the films Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

If you would like the tour based on a particular hotel we offer a wide range in our hotels section and we are of course happy to quote on any of these.

Transfers are not included in the price as some people prefer to hire a car or take a private transfer which we can arrange but the best way from the airport to your hotel in our opinion is the Flybus transfer from Keflavik airport to your hotel and back for just £39pp return.

Our prices are based on the cheapest departure date in any given month from the departure airport as stated and prices are subject to change according to availability.

Flights are available from London Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Stansted, London City, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh & B
